Chinese New Year with the WPCA in Cape Town

Cape Town has a wonderful community called the Western Province Chinese Association and they are based at the Chinese School and Community Centre at Liesbeek Parkway in Observatory. I’ve been to some of their events before, including festival celebrations to buy food from Chinese vendors, it’s always festive, busy and we’d leave with our trousers’ top button undone. This time on the 25 February 2018, the association held a New Year’s lunch celebration so I decided to join their celebrations, and took my parents along for it too.

A menu of tasty Chinese dishes, a Lion Dance, Dragon dance and plenty of love and effort poured into the event by the local Chinese community, and I got to spend some time with some old friends. Can’t wait to celebrate with them all again next year!

Like their Facebook page here to find out more about their events, and to check out the videos of the Lion and Dragon Dances.

Also took a selfie with my mama before we headed there <3 Happy New Year to everyone celebrating!
