This past Valentine’s Day, I received tickets to join the Spier Wine Farm‘s Breakfast at Tiffany’s outdoor movie screening and my oh my, what a rad time we had. My GPS did some amazing rerouting, we missed the traffic and arrive an hour early. It was actually the perfect circumstance and allowed us to mission around the wine farm.
Since it was my first time at Spier, I was rather gobsmacked at the breathtaking lawns and set up for the screening. Many of you might know that Spier is well-known for the Moyo, the African-dining experience where you get your face painted. My first experience with Spier was actually at the 2011 Taste of Cape Town with my pastry class buddy, Nadia Moolman.
My fella and I were given welcome drinks, and I HAVE to mention that there were non-alcoholic ones as well. This makes me really happy owing to my allergy. Our picnic basket was filled with picnic treats, including gourmet pasta salads, giant grapes, Cape rock lobster and mayo (what what?), macaroons, roast beef, a cheese selection, smoke fish on a fish pâté, fresh oysters, panna cotta, and a complimentary bottle of Spier’s signature Méthode Cap Classique. Find out more about Spier Picnics here.
From big cushions, to fluffy blankets, a full moon to insect repellent (yes please), it was quite a romantic affair. And even though Kyle and I aren’t ‘the most romantic’ of couples, we had a great time with the screening, looking up at the stars, and the full moon. Thank you Spier for our #SpierMemories. We’ll be back. Indefinitely.
