Thanks to Woolworths, I cooked up a storm with a flavour from their new range of ‘Flavours from around the World’. My flavour to work with was Sriracha. I’ve tasted it before throughout my missions, but never actually cooked with this hot sauce. Sriracha originates from Thailand, and this brand of Sriracha – Flying Goose, is quite well known throughout the world. The ingredients in this sauce includes sun ripened chilli and garlic, and the one I received is the ‘Super Sour’ variant, which also has lemon juice.
Named after the coastal city of Si Racha, in the Chonburi Province of the eastern part of Thailand, Sriracha has been around since 1984 (find out more here) and is said to have been first produced to serve with dishes at local seafood restaurants. I’m actually quite useless when it comes to chillies and hot sauces, but I can somehow manage with Sriracha. It’s not just about the chilli, the flavour is pretty awesome. You can use the Flying Goose Sriracha Hot Sauce as a dipping sauce (it’s original use), salad dressing, marinade or even cocktail mix.
